A Pressie - For Us!

We taking a break from Artsy Fartsy Friday this week to share a cool pressie we got in the mail!  This envelope came to our mailbox about a MONTH ago from Carrie and her pups at All Things Dog Blog. You know what slackers we are and are just now getting around to showing it to you. We've been kinda slow about downloading our pics.

It was just packed with goodies -

First up, we have Tokipoki trading cards from the pups, Tanner, Oliver (and Xena who lives on in their hearts).  We've heard about Tokipoki, but we don't have our own.  These are the first that we've seen in person and they are sooooo COOL!  We're wondering now why we don't have our OWN!  Must talk to our assistant about this :)

Next we have a couple of goodies from MANKINDdog.  If you haven't visited MANKINDdog, you really should.  It's chock full of gifts for YOU and your peeps.  Niiiiice!

We saved the best for last!  This is a super cool cover for your favorite empty water bottle.  You know, the ones that are all crunchy and fun to toss around and play with?  Mom likes this cover 'cause it kind of muffles the plastic crunchy sound a little - still fun for us, but a tad bit quieter for your peeps!  We just LOVE the logo - isn't it the cutest???

All Things Dog Blog is brimming with info for your and your peeps.  They have experienced dog trainers, a holistic vet, product reviews, treat recipes.  Looks like they have just about everything covered there!  Oh, yeah, did we mention weekly drawings for cool stuff for YOU and your peeps?  Don't take our word for it - go check it out yourself!

Thanks Carrie, Oliver and Tanner!

Artsy Fartsy Friday

We've had our eye on these cool handcrafted collages of original art by Gemini Studio Art for a while.  He does more than animal art, but by now you know that's pretty much our area of interest.  Believe it or not, this is just a sampling of his work.  Collages are available as originals and prints.  PLUS, he does custom work.  So, if you don't see your mug on his website, he might still be able to do it.  We just think they're FUN!  Go to Gemini Studio Art to see more cool art!

A Strange Tale of Lowcountry Love

It's that time of year when many a young man's thoughts turn to courtship.  And reptiles - cold-blooded though they are - are no exception.  Join us as we follow the courtship of a couple of local lizards.

Meet Gordon Gecko -

Meet the object of his affection, the fair Darien -

Gordon and his lady love play a game of "Catch me if you can."

Here is Gordon showing off -

Here's Cooper - oblivious to the dance of love going on right under his nose.

In an effort to test the limits of Gordon's affections, Darien plays hard-to-get and moves to another bench -

Gordon will not be thwarted by Darien's coy game (or lack of interest). He will follow her to the ends of the Earth, or at least the next bench.

Oh, Darien?  Where ARE you?

It seems the fair Darien is immune to Gordon's charms (or perhaps she is just camera shy).

Gordon searches high -

And low.

He contemplates bringing flowers to woo the fair Darien.  Alas, he has only a credit card and the flower vendor accepts only cash.  Foiled again in the game of romance.

Onward, with only his fierce determination -

and bizarre neck to offer the fair Darien - he searches tirelessly.

Where IS that coy minx hiding?

Rejected and humilated, Gordon turns his attentions to the feathered species. Little does he know, Polly is hardened to his charms, also. She is made of wood. No, really, she IS made of wood.

To be contined . . . or maybe not.

[These are green anole lizards.  Their behaviour could mean they are engaged in either combat or mating - just like every other species, it's hard to tell the difference and we didn't stick around to find out 'cause we've seen them in combat and it's SCARY . . . ]

We're HERE in the World!

We won't keep you in suspense much longer.  Nobody guessed the exact place although there were some good guesses.  Tales and Tails came the closest to guessing what it was and closest in region of the country.  Frankie really wanted it to be the gates to the MILKBONE factory - sorry to disappoint you Frankie.  Although there are some bones there!

So here are your last hints followed by the ANSWER at bottom.

That's right! Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument located in the Crow Agency, Montana (near Billings) also known as the site of Custer's Last Stand

Did we mention that the ONLY reason we stopped here was because Robert Redford MIGHT have been here while shooting the Horse Whisperer?  The characters in the movie, Annie and Grace (mom and daughter) stop here on their trek to take Pilgrim, the horse, to see the horse whisperer (RR).  RR wasn't even in the scene, but he was the producer so we thought he might have been here at some point.  And, haha, as it turns out he MIGHT not.  The battlefield was actually recreated on location elsewhere in Montana for the shooting.  So, while we were looking for RR, we got a history lesson instead.  The joke's on US!

Thanks for playing everyone!
