We're HERE in the World!

We won't keep you in suspense much longer.  Nobody guessed the exact place although there were some good guesses.  Tales and Tails came the closest to guessing what it was and closest in region of the country.  Frankie really wanted it to be the gates to the MILKBONE factory - sorry to disappoint you Frankie.  Although there are some bones there!

So here are your last hints followed by the ANSWER at bottom.

That's right! Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument located in the Crow Agency, Montana (near Billings) also known as the site of Custer's Last Stand

Did we mention that the ONLY reason we stopped here was because Robert Redford MIGHT have been here while shooting the Horse Whisperer?  The characters in the movie, Annie and Grace (mom and daughter) stop here on their trek to take Pilgrim, the horse, to see the horse whisperer (RR).  RR wasn't even in the scene, but he was the producer so we thought he might have been here at some point.  And, haha, as it turns out he MIGHT not.  The battlefield was actually recreated on location elsewhere in Montana for the shooting.  So, while we were looking for RR, we got a history lesson instead.  The joke's on US!

Thanks for playing everyone!

Darn... I guess I have to admit to being a bit... Focused ... on my OWN interests..
My mom read the Horse Whisperer and also saw the Movie. One of the few movies that really followed the book and did it well.
I have never seen pictures of the L.B.H. cemetery the way you have them shown here. Excellent job. NICE ... butt sad ... history lesson.

Well, it looks like a cool place to visit and you got some pictures!
That RR is a hard guy to find!! We have been to his Sundance film festival 6 times and haven't spotted him yet.

Gah! We almost said that one, but we didn't know if Robert Redford had been there. We did know that he was at the Grafton Cemetery filming another movie, though. That is such a cool place, and Mom thinks that when she was a little girl, she was there. She did go to the Little Bighorn Museum with her dad when she was too young to appreciate the coolness of the place. Did you know Custer always kept a pack of Greyhounds?

How cool!

Of course, the Horse Whisper! I was going to say the Electric Horseman, does that count? Remember that movie with Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. My mom loved that movie when she was a kid.

Wow--I was there a zillion years ago (well, not quite). You certainly could see how it didn't offer much protection for Custer and his troops.

Hi Road Dogs,

No, we don't make films..bol, just fans of film.
We started going to Sundance in the 90's. Our last trip there was 2005. We'd ski some and try to see as many films as we could see. Perfect vacation for us :)

My dad lived in Butte when he was in the CC's and he was a cowboy, too, breaking in wild mules in Montana. He said it was truly God's country there. Enjoy your visit and thank you for sharing your great photos! Really liked the movie "The Horse Whisperer," but the book was intense! So glad they didn't end the movie like they did the book! Great pics! Happy travels!

OH, shoot! I missed out on the mystery. Oh, well, I prolly wouldn't have gotten it anyway. I think that looks like a Most Interesting place and I'm glad you stopped there - even if Mr. Robert Redford didn't.
