Back to the Scene

We've mentioned Cooper's incredible stagefright, right?  Well, if you can believe this, Mom & Dad took him back to the scene of his humiliation yesterday!  Thank goodness they didn't torture him by trying to get him to perform!  Each year the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition comes to Charleston in February bringing all sorts of critters and stuff with it - Birds of Prey, tons of wildlife art, etc.  But, the only thing Mom & Dad really care about anymore is seeing DOCK DOGS!  We have to admit, they are something else and we're sure if the Coop could control his stagefright, he would be AWESOME at it and LOVE it.  But, he has his very own docks and ponds to jump in and Mom & Dad to throw the tennis balls, so we're not really sure why he would even want to join the organized Dock Dogs where you have to wait your turn and have manners and rules and such.  But, on to the competition ~

We would like to present some of Dock Dogs finest speed retrievers.  This part of the competition is judged by fastest retrieving time.  There are other competitions, like Big Air that are judged on distance jumped.  You can learn more about Dock Dogs here.   Lots of pics coming up . . .

Okay, we're gonna pause here for a moment and just prepare you to be AMAZED . . .

Yeah, baby, that's a German Shepherd!

Different Shepherd . . .

We think a black lab won, but who cares ~ all these guys are AMAZING, don'tcha think?

Them dock dogs are so cool ...weird cuz they likes water but whatevers.
I has to admit, I can't remember ever seein' a GS doin' dat.

I is so sure I could do it...if I had longer legs and liked da water and was somewhat trainable...kinda likes da Cooper.

Misty the alpha Poodle would love to do the jumping. Getting her out of the water would be the hard part.

Wot amazes me is that those dogs jump in the water like that then go back and do it again! You knows my hike from yesterday where I sayed it woz the furst place I efur hiked as a yungun? It woz also the furst place I ever dived into the river like those Dock Dogs and the river almost drownded me! I woz skeered of water after that and it has only been the past cuppull of years that I will swim a few strokes again. So totally impressed by those Dock Dogs! Oh, and thanks fur saying I look like a pup. Two udder peeples told me that yesterday. But nope, I be 10 sometime next monthish. Mom say hiking keeps me looking yung but she not think it werks the same way fur her.

Holy cat feathers! That is some serious action! Morgan was quite impressed by those German Shepherd forms, too. Whew! One of the blogs that we follow, Never Say Never Greyhounds, is written by a woman who had the only dock diving Greyhound -- Travis. It is so much fun to watch them do their thing!

Not at all surprised if a black lab won. They are just nuts when it comes to water and retrieving if they just have someone to teach them the ropes. I bet they have so much fun doing that. To each his own, of course. It's not for everydoggy.
